Father Leo Quinlan, SJ
1915 – 2008
Fr. Leo Quinlan was born on November 2, 1915, and entered the Society of Jesus in 1933 after graduating from Boston College High School. He obtained degrees in philosophy and theology at Weston College, was ordained a priest in 1945, and taught briefly at Boston College and Fairfield University.
Father Quinlan was sent to Jamaica in 1949, where for two years he engaged in pastoral ministry (at Holy Rosary Church and Holy Cross Church) before he became part of the teaching staff at St. George’s College (1951 – 1962). Fr. Quinlan served as Principal of St. George’s College from 1962 – 1970, and then as prefect of discipline and as a teacher of religion from 1970 – 1978. For two years (1978 – 1980), he finished his service at St. George’s College as Assistant Principal.

The Jamaica College Old Boys Association (JCOBAFL) did an excellent job of organizing and promoting the 4th annual Ziadie Cup Clash between JCOBAFL and STGCOBAFL, but St. George's took the honours on the field at the Silver Shores Park in Miramar on April 26, maintaining their unbeaten record in this event. Aug 02, 2007: FL Alumni Give 1/2 Million J$ To Repair Hurricane Damage

Trevor Palmer (Class of '75), President of the St. George's College Old Boys Association of Florida, travelled to Jamaica recently to present a cheque for J$500,000 to the school's Principal Mrs. Margaret Campbell. This cheque represents the association's contribution towards defraying the costs of repairing the damage caused by Hurricane Dean in August 2007. Read the rest ...
