| The Order of Jamaica was conferred on St. George's College HALL OF FAMER Byron Lee during a special ceremony on Sunday October 26 at the Tony Thwaites Wing of the University Hospital of the West Indies. He was given the award, Jamaica's fourth-highest honour, by Governor General Sir Kenneth Hall. |

Oct 19, 2008: Professor Chen to receive Jamaican National Honour

Professor Chen, member of the St. George's College Hall of Fame, will be honoured for his contribution to the field of climatology. He was a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, and is the only Jamaican to have won a Nobel Prize.
The prize was awarded to the IPCC and Albert Arnold (Al) Gore Jr. "for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change".

After a year of tensions between the students of the brother schools (K.C. and St G.C), once again, the Roper cup founded by the legendary George Roper is here to bring back the friendly rivalry and to remind all about the history of the relationship between the two institutions.
